2 months, 1 week, and 3 days old
My daughter is 2 months, 1 week, and 3 days old. I laugh as I type this because I never thought I would count the precise days since she was born. I always wondered why, when asking a mother how old her baby is, she would respond in the way I do now. Just yesterday someone asked me how old she was and I said 9 weeks. The lady mumbled under her breathe, ahhhhh, 2 months old. I don’t mind it, in fact I just think it’s funny to notice the changes I am going through since having my bundle of joy.
What has changed now? Let’s see… I’ll start with trying to leave the house.
I can’t just bolt out of the house without checking her diaper, feeding her, and packing her diaper bag. I lost count of how many times I left the house only to find that I have to nurse her as soon as I get to the store I needed to go to. Then find that I left her birp cloth at home so when she spits up after I burp her, it ends up all over my shirt. And then I just so happen to forget to pack a spare shirt for myself because I used the last one two days ago when she threw up all over me. And I can’t forget, I always need spare clothing for her as well. Between the diaper blowouts and the projectile spit-ups, it’s always a good idea to have at least 3 spare sets.
Ahhhh, the wonderful joys of being a mom. I realize that it’s part of the job and that the rewards are much greater than I ever imagined. Nothing can compare to the beautiful smile I get from her each morning we wake up together. The coo’s and sounds she makes when I talk to her melt me. I couldn’t be more blessed.
